COMPOST BARN OPEN HOUSE

Open House Friday April 26th from 10-4:30 at Whitten Family Farm 1101 CR 49 in Winthrop.   Open to anyone interested in learning more about reducing food waste and generating and applying compost - farmers are encouraged to attend.
 

Learn about reimagining food waste with a Neighborhood scale composting system, Soil Analysis Microscopy workshop; demonstrations of other equipment including thermometers, refractometers, penetrometers and a compost tea and extract brewer. Tour our Aerated Static Pile composting system, including the greenhouse heated from compost “waste heat”. 

 

Potluck and Panel discussion from noon-2pm focused on food waste recovery, composting and soil enrichment - bring your favorite local food dish to share while engaging with a panel of food waste and composting experts

ending with a Raffle at 4:30
